ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Savonna (she/her) and I am really glad you found your way here. Therapy can seem overwhelming, daunting, confusing, but maybe even like a beacon of hope or relief. However you've come to my page, you are so welcomed.
Have you been feeling alone? Confused? Wondering if you even need therapy, but something just doesn't feel "right" and you don't exactly know what to do about it? Or do you have a kid and you're just not sure how to help them but you know they need "something"? You are in the right place.
I love working with folx who are just trying to figure things out. Sometimes that's been as direct as just trying to figure out if you should leave your job and how do you find the next one. Sometimes that has been thinking very deeply about experiences you have had in your life and how those experiences have created how you show up in life and certain spaces now, especially in your relationships. Sometimes that's been to do the work of breaking generational cycles in your parenting. Sometimes that has been to listen, really listen, so you have someone who is totally focused on you when sometimes it might feel like no one else is.
I am really interested in learning about what is important to you, what troubles you, what things are going well, and I definitely spend time learning about how you grew up. I think it is so critical to our understanding of who we are now to be able to reflect on past or current experiences thst have contributed to our whole person. You'd be surprised how much people want to explore who they are whether you're 13 or 30.
I will sit across from you in a chair like you might think of "traditional therapy" if that is what is comfortable for you, but I love utilizing all sorts of other methods to bring you into a comfortable space to be able to talk and reflect. I've played basketball, played catch, gone for a walk, and went fishing during sessions. I've used favorite TV shows to explore many themes and things thst might be otherwise hard to talk about. I have a very eclectic mix of approaches and modes that I utilize with my clients.
My approach stays the same though: you are important - this guides all of what I do in my practice. I am focused on creating a trusting professional relationship with you because if we don't have that, why would you feel like we could talk about anything more than surface-level? People want connection and I don't think theraoy has to be stuffy or any different in that respect. I have a lot of compassion, patience, and no judgment. Full disclaimer: sometimes this means using a lot of humor and even some cursing in our sessions 😄
I work with anyone 10+ at this time. Please check out my groups listing as well as I often have a mix of children and adult groups running simultaneously with varying topics and methods.

Experience
I have spent the last 12 years mainly working with foster youth. I have done that as a child welfare investigator, worked in group homes as a case manager, and in non-profits supporting current and former foster youth with through high school, post-high school programs, and finding jobs.
I have also done 1:1 therapy in a small private practice and worked as a mobile crisis clinician addressing crisis situations with minors that involved suicidal ideations, thoughts, and attempts. I have experience with safety planning, crisis management, and de-escalation.
The majority of my career has been spent with adolescents and their families and all of the ups and downs that come with that developmental stage in life and that stage of caregiving.
Folx dealing with anxiety, depression, complex PTSD, complex trauma, adjustment disorders, school resistance, and identity exploration have made up the majority of my clients. I have had clients with eating disorders, substance use disorders, and personality disorders, but those areas I would not consider my areas of expertise - feel free connect with me if you have questions about that.
